Rpging Forum Moderating Staff:
Rpg Forum Leader: Aesthetic Eve
Rpg Forum Moderators:
Rules:
Playing:
1. You must create your character based on the information given to you by the creator of the RPG. If you feel something could or should be added - contact the creator, do not just assume you can. This will be accomplished through one of two ways -
- The OOC (Out Of Character Thread), which is a general discussion exclusive to that specific RPG.
- Through PM’s to the creator of the RPG.
2. While playing inside of the RPG, you must write in the style prescribed by the creator. The types are as follows:
A. Story - This can only go as far as limited omniscience, since any given player will not have complete control over another’s. NPCs (Non-Player Characters) are not subject to this unless they are a lasting presence within the story line. Typically the creator will have a number of these to give a particular setting for the players to build upon. As players though, you are free to create as many or few NPCs as needed/wanted in order to enrich the story.
A1. Story (Tense - Past/Present) - Depending on what the creator wants, there can be specific boundaries to the writing. This includes what tense the story is written in, and what perspective everyone should utilize. First person, and third person are the general favorites, but in the end it is up to the creator to choose. Thus the players will follow their lead.
B. Script - This method is like a screenplay or like text. Example below:
Romeo: She speaks: O, speak again, bright angel! for thou art As glorious to this night, being o'er my head, As is a winged messenger of heaven Unto the white-upturned wondering eyes Of mortals that fall back to gaze on him When he bestrides the lazy-pacing clouds And sails upon the bosom of the air.
Juliet: O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I'll no longer be a Capulet.
Romeo: [Aside.] Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?
Juliet: 'Tis but thy name that is my enemy; Thou art thyself, though not a Montague. What's Montague? It is nor hand, nor foot, nor arm, nor face, nor any other part Belonging to a man. O, be some other name! What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet; So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd, Retain that dear perfection which he owes without that title:--Romeo, doff thy name; And for that name, which is no part of thee, Take all myself.
*Failure to cooperate with the writing style will followed by either the creator of the RPG, or a moderator to correct the situation. If the player continually posts in an improper style they will be terminated and removed from the game.*
3. Keep your posts within the limitations of the world created.
Improper EX: Fantasy RPG - Character uses a sub-machine gun to kill enemies.
4. Have fun, these things are here for our amusement, and that is why we do them. If you as a player feel that a creator is being unjust in his/her RPG, contact that person. If the problem persists, contact a moderator, and we will take care of the situation. If the creator is a moderator, contact another moderator.
Creating
1. You must have participated in at least one other RPG here before you can create your own. Participating means that you stayed with the RPG until its end, whether it ended due to lack of participation from members, or the story ended.
2. All new RPG creations must be passed through at least one mod in order for it to be put up. If they feel it is lacking in areas, they will tell you to change these parts. If they believe that it will not work, then it will not be posted. If the RPG is posted without their approval or if it was not shown to any moderators will result in deletion of that thread.
3. You must include a basic template for your members. This should include at least the following:
Name:
Age:
Sex:
Race:
General Appearance:
Weapons/Armor:
Biography:
More can be added to this, such as: Eyes, Hair, Height, Weight, ect., but those listed above are mandatory. The more creative and detailed you make your characters and worlds, the more fun and believable it is for everyone.
4. You must create two threads. The first will be the IC Thread, and the second will be the OOC Thread (I.E.- “Name of RPG IC” and “Name of RPG OOC”)
-The IC Thread will contain: Character Template, Maps, Races, Story Summary, and a State of things as they are for the characters to start in.
-The OOC Thread will contain: New Characters from players (for review and approval), Questions pertaining to the RPG, networking and discussion around the actual story/setting/conflicts/etc. THERE WILL BE NO IN CHARACTER POSTS IN THE OOC SO AS TO MAINTAIN THE INTEGRITY OF THE RPG.
5. A brief summary of your rules and expectations of the members should be included in either the OOC topic, or the topic directly.
Running
1. In order to run the RPG, you must have created it. The creator of the RPG automatically becomes the person who runs the RPG, making all of the in-game decisions pertaining to member conduct.
2. Members who fail to uphold the creator’s rules will receive a written warning and way to fix their problem from the creator of the RPG. If the member fails to uphold the creator’s request then a moderator will be contacted to deal with the situation. Termination of your character and deletion of all future posts on that RPG is a possible consequence of failure to cooperate with a moderator. You will receive one warning from the creator, one warning for the moderator, and then your character will be terminated.
3. If members have a problem with the way the creator is running your RPG, they should contact the creator first. If the problem cannot be worked out directly between the creator and the member, a moderator will be contacted to deal with the situation - possibly having to shut the entire RPG down.
4. Keep your members in line - but do not abuse your power. As members of an RPG, we are not always clear of the creator’s full ideas or goals of the RPG, which can create some confusion. Try to be as clear as you can when the RPG is created, so that members can be on the same page as you. Any report of a creator abusing his powers will have a discussion with a moderator about the situation - possibly removing the creator as the runner of the RPG - if failure to comply occurs.
5. All RPGS created must have a base plot summary. 1500 characters is a good start, and should provide enough information for others to build on. While maps and pictures aren’t required by any means, the more descriptive you are, the better the RPG. So take the time to set things up right, and you will reap the benefits!
6. Have fun as well. Just because you are the creator doesn't mean that you have stress over your RPG. We‘re all here for an escape at times, and to enjoy each other‘s creativity.
Double Posting
Double posting is allowed in this forum but there are some rules for when it is allowed the next two sections will explain when it is allowed and when it is not allowed.
IC thread wise:
Only double posts allowed in an IC post is when the character limit is too large to fit in a single post. The only other reason to double post is when no one has posted in quite some time (I.E.: a few weeks and you have permission from the creator or moderators).
OOC thread wise:
Double posting is allowed within the OOC thread but only if there is an extended amount of time between the posts. (I.E.: 5 hours or more). If it is less than that edit your first post and then add this tag onto it.
Edit: Your message here
Plus if you feel the need to divide something from the other parts of your post instead of making a second post just use a dividing ling.

Summary of Rules
I hope these notes clear things up for everyone. If you have any suggestions for more rules, or any changes please write them in our RPG Discussion thread within this forum. We will consult your ideas, and let you know our decision. You may also contact any of the rpg mods which will be posted as they are selected.
Alignments- These aren't necessary, but are a good example for defining your character's view on the world at large, and in what actions they will take.
Lawful Good, "Crusader": Characters of this alignment believe that an orderly, strong society with a well-organized government can work to make life better for the majority of the people. To ensure the highest quality of life, laws must be created and obeyed. When people respect the laws and try to help one another, society as a whole prospers. Therefore, lawful good characters strive for those things that will bring the greatest benefit to the most people and cause the least harm. An honest and hard-working peasant, a kindly and wise official, and a stern but fair judge are all examples of lawful good people.
Neutral Good, "Benefactor": These characters believe that a balance of forces is important, but that the concerns of law and chaos do not moderate the need for good. Since the universe is vast and contains many creatures striving for different goals, a determined pursuit of good will not upset the balance; it may even maintain it. Social structure itself has no innate value. If fostering good means supporting organized society, then that is what must be done. If good can come about only through overthrowing the existing social order, so be it. A soldier who defies a commander's orders, so as to destroy something he or she sees as evil, is an example of a neutral good character.
Chaotic Good, "Rebel": Chaotic good characters are strong individualists marked by a streak of kindness and benevolence. They believe in all the virtues of goodness and right, but they have little use for laws and regulations. They have no patience with people who try to push folk around and tell them what to do. Their actions are guided by their own moral compass, which although good, may not always be in agreement with the rest of society. A wandering monk who helps those in need is an example of a chaotic good character.
Lawful Neutral, "Judge": Law and organization are of paramount importance to characters of this alignment. They believe in a strong, well-ordered government, whether it be a brutal tyranny or benevolent democracy. The benefits of organization and regimentation outweigh any moral questions. An official determined to ferret out traitors at any cost or a soldier who never ques-tions orders is a good example of a lawful neutral character.
True Neutral, "Undecided": Such characters believe in the ultimate balance of forces, and they refuse to see actions as either good or evil. They do their best to avoid siding with the forces of either good or evil, law or chaos. It is their duty to see that all of these forces remain in balanced contention and thus may find themselves forced into peculiar alliances. They are compelled to support the underdog in any given situation, sometimes even changing sides to maintain the balance as the previous loser becomes ascendant. A true neutral character might join the local militia to put down a gang of bandits, only to drop out or join the former enemy's forces once they brought to the brink of destruction. Since the majority of people in the world make judgments, true neutral characters are extremely rare.
Chaotic Neutral, "Free Spirit": Chaotic neutral characters believe that there is no order to anything, including their own actions. With this as a guiding principle, they follow whatever whim strikes them at the moment: Good and evil are irrelevant when making a decision. Chaotic neutral characters are extremely difficult to deal with; the only reliable thing about them is that they cannot be relied upon! Such people might cheerfully and for no apparent purpose gamble away everything they have on the roll of a single die. This alignment is perhaps the most difficult to play. Lunatics and crackpots tend toward chaotic neutral behavior.
Lawful Evil, "Dominator": These characters believe in using society and its laws to benefit themselves. To them, structure and organization elevate those who deserve to rule and provide a clearly defined hierarchy between master and servant. Thus lawful evil characters support systems that protect their own concerns; if someone else suffers because of that, too bad. Such people obey laws out of fear of punishment rather than any higher moral code. Because they may be forced to honor an unfavorable contract or oath, lawful evil characters are usually very careful about giving their word. Once it is given, though, they break their word only if they can find a way to do so legally. An iron-fisted tyrant and a devious, greedy merchant are examples of lawful evil people.
Neutral Evil, "Malefactor": Neutral evil characters are primarily concerned with themselves and their own advancement. If there is a quick and easy way to gain a profit, whether it be legal, questionable, or obviously illegal, they take advantage of it. Those of a neutral evil alignment have no particular objection to working with others or, for that matter, going it alone. They typically base their allegiance on power and money, which makes them receptive to bribes. They have no qualms about betraying their friends and companions for personal gain. An unscrupulous mercenary, a common thief, and a double-crossing informer who betrays people to the authorities are typical examples of neutral evil characters.
Chaotic Evil, "Destroyer": These characters are the bane of all that is good and organized, motivated solely by the desire for personal gain and pleasure. Chaotic evil characters see absolutely nothing wrong with taking whatever they want by whatever means possible. To them, laws and governments are tools of weaklings unable to fend for themselves. The strong should take what they want; the weak are to be exploited. When chaotic evil characters band together, they are not motivated by a desire to cooperate, but rather to oppose powerful enemies who threaten their personal interests. Such a group can be held together only by a strong leader capable of bullying underlings into obedience. Leadership of this sort is based on raw power, so a leader is likely to be replaced at the first sign of weakness by anyone who can grab the position, whatever the method. Bloodthirsty bandits and brutish monsters of low Intelligence are fine examples of chaotic evil personalities.
