I think it's possible to totally and completely know someone. most people just don't know how to do it.

i think I'm speaking a bit to deep when i say you cant KNOW someone...
Unless that person sits down and tell you EVERYTHING as far back as they can remember down to every last detail.
every single thought that they think.
Not only that....people also change/keep secrets/learn etc

I've never said that i exactly KNOW someone....i mean....i can take the bits and pieces i know
about people and put something together about their personality...I'm usually right on those things
but i still wouldn't say i know them.....

that's certainly one way of looking at it, and I can see your point. but then, you could also argue that it is in fact other people who shape who we are and decide what we are. if somebody says you're smart or good-looking or excel at some kind of talent, you may find yourself trying harder to show off what you have been complimented on. or in the opposite case, you may find yourself overly focusing on something you've been insulted or criticized on, even if it didn't bother you before.

sometimes the people around us know us better than we know ourselves.

That's true, but wouldn't it just be an act? if we allow someone else to shape us/ make us change because of a complaint or criticism?
and would be only temporary as people see things in different ways...what someone else may hate someone else may love...which would cause the other person to sway in a different direction....If you get my drift

not exactly. it's true, we sometimes change ourselves to please others. but that's not quite what I meant. even if that were the case, it can be a good thing. sometimes we want change, and that compliment or insult can give us a push in the right direction to change and become a better person.

but what I actually meant was that it doesn't change us necessarily. it just helps bring it to the surface.

maybe that's just some people tho, and not everybody. we all have our own way of looking at the world.

But doesn't change my argument that you can never really know a person
as you spoke of people changing...if something is constantly changing how can you keep track?
people grow change learn new things So its impossible.

its true you may not be able to kno someone completely until they let u in completely but u can catch a glimpse of a persons heart and/or soul if u pay enough attention (but not in tha stalking way, more like tha noticing way)

something i noticed about myself with ppl in real life is i can fool someone in their face if i really wanted . . . and theyd never ever kno . . . (tho i choose not to do stuff like that) . . . but its harder not to be myself online . . . harder to hide who i am in tha interwebz

you make an excellent point viscount. people are constantly changing, and that means there's always gonna be something new about another person we probably don't know. but I don't think that means we don't know them. at some point in time a friend of ours has probably told us something about themselves that sounded crazy or alarming and we just respond with a glance and a "yeah, that sounds like something you'd do".

I'll admit we don't know the feelings and secrets of anybody 100%. but predictability is a close second if you ask me. I swear, almost nothing surprises me anymore.
