Games in Japan Empty Games in Japan

I honestly thought games in Japan would be a little cheaper than the US. Boy, was i wrong. About a month ago I saw the new Kingdom Hearts for 3DS in the store and it was about 5,000 yen. That's maybe $70. And I saw ff13-2 and it was 7,000 yen. About 90 dollars or more.

Yeah, I read that everything in Japan is expensive. Hell, a two-episode blu-ray of anime costs like $80.

They have used games in Japan? I thought those were pretty much illegal there.

Nope. You can buy them. I've never heard of that before. O_O Where did you hear that from?

I remember reading that Japan is pretty serious about the sale of used games, and try to curb it as much as they can.

I've heard you should be prepared to lose all your spending money in Japan. especially if you're a die-hard gamer or otaku.

I will need to save my monies for a trip if I plan on returning with the spoils of a great shopping trip.

Yep. You should see what No More Heroes looks like in America, compared to Europe and Japan (and the game is even Japanese-made!)

If I ever do go to Japan, I'm not spending it on games. Even though I prefer Japanese-made games, I can't understand Japanese (...yet?), and it'd be a waste of money buying a game I can't really enjoy, especially if it's an RPG or another text-heavy game. Not to mention that two of my primary gaming devices right now, my Wii and 3DS, are region-locked (though my Wii is modded so that it can play games from any region, but still...).

But yeah. I read that Japan is very expensive.

Oh yeah. Games here are expensive. More expensive. Manga is cheaper here. but you will have to know some Japanese for that. Even used anime stuff costs a lot.
