Another blow to anime on TV in America
First topic message reminder :
I've learned on another forum that SyFy's anime block--which brought us such titles as Monster and Gurren Lagann--will be discontinued in 3 weeks.
It's sad, but between it, the lack of new anime on Adult Swim, and the near complete lack of anime on basic cable elsewhere, the anime industry in America seems to be in dire times.

Well....i guess that means we all have to watch anime online now. But i have a question. Do they still make dubbed anime like Naruto? Because....honestly...i would rather watch the subbed versions.lol

imo, more and more anime are becoming faithful to the subs these days. but there are still a few that edit A LOT out. now that I think about it, I have a pretty good idea why.Cheza wrote:Well....i guess that means we all have to watch anime online now. with anime becoming increasingly popular in America (and possibly other countries as well), more and more kids are probably watching it as well. for this reason, the more popular and mainstream anime have to be toned down in order to keep it PG. that's why the long time anime fans that spread their attention to other, lesser known series, notice the difference between a PG dub and the ones that remained faithful to the original.
I remember when I watched stuff like DBZ and Sailor Moon, it was all relatively harmless. y'know, besides killing alien invaders and people getting shot with lasers that people shot out of their mouths and hands. but it was all for the greater good. then I started watching more and more anime and I started to ask myself "Can they say/do that?" every 5 seconds.
if my theory is true, don't count on a mainstream anime to remain faithful to the original.

A lot of stuff on Adult Swim were pretty faithful, and even Toonami titles were as well (yes, even Naruto).
